Harwood Memorial Park Association is a non-profit private park and recreation hall that serves the greater Laytonville Community.

The association is staffed by volunteers and is run by an executive board. Harwood Park is used by Little Leauge, Youth Soccer, Youth Football, High School Baseball and Girls' Softball. The park and field are adjacent to the rodeo grounds and the hall has our Healthy Start/Family Resource Center attached to it.

The park is used for annual events such as Oldtimers' Ball Game and BBQ in the summer, Healthy Start Fair, and private parties and tournaments. The hall hosts a Halloween Carnival with games, food and contests for the whole family, and a Christmas Bazaar with handmade arts and crafts and goodies to buy, concessions and a kids' area for cookie decorating, movies and crafts. Santa shows up to hear all the wishes and take pictures, and a good time is had by all.

The staff and all volunteers are dedicated to keeping the park and hall in good working order to be able to serve and grow with our community. Some recent and new projects are taking place to further meet the needs of our area. A new barn, built with grant money, has been built with a mentor program of adults and teens to house our Food Co-op Program, and store equipment and supplies. Our kitchen is now being remodeled with a new stove, sink and cabinets. We have been, and plan to continue, residing the building and making needed repairs. We are using a grant to look into the feasiblity of starting a homeless shelter for teens.

Every town needs a place where the community can come together for common cause and events. Harwood Park and Hall and Family Resource Center is that place.
